Welcome to the Washington DC Community!

The Washington DC Community is for people who live in DC proper, as well as those who live in the surrounding cities, towns, and suburbs, and anyone generally interested in the area. Feel free to post about upcoming events, issues surrounding the area, or just about anything pertaining to the Washington metropolitan area. Please keep in mind that posts & comments should be of interest to the community at large.

Please do not post any commercial posts or include links with referrer links. If you post recommending anything and you work for them or would otherwise personally gain, please reconsider posting... and at the least state your personal interest.

Community members ask that you not disable comments, or make posts "friends only." As an open community, we promote open & free communication for all. You're more than welcome to share pictures. In the interest of those connected via dial-up & others, (please) use a cut tag when posting photos, or long posts. Posts not adhering to these guidelines are subject to removal, and the user possibly having his/her posting rights revoked (no questions asked).

When you join the community, please feel free to introduce yourself. Who knows, you might meet some great friends here. :)

Checkout the community's memories for info on other people, places, fun things to do, etc...

If you're interested in moving to the area and would like an independent assessment of the parts of town, we don't mind you asking but recommend you check out the DC Crime Map first. The Washington Post also has a neighborhood section on their website that may help you start.
